Hilary Edington, Ph.

 

 

Dr Hilary Edington trained and worked as a clinical psychologist in the U.K. before moving to Vancouver in 2010. She received her M.Phil and Ph.D in Clinical Psychology from the University of Edinburgh, Scotland, in 1990 and 1991. Dr Edington completed her pre-chartership clinical experience at St John’s Hospital, West Lothian, Scotland, working with anxiety disorders and depression. She worked as Lecturer on the Doctorate training course in Clinical Psychology at the University of Manchester, teaching CBT and Research Methodology to postgraduate Clinical Psychology students. Dr Edington chaired the Research Sub-Committee of the Executive Training Committee for Clinical Psychology, and her research focused on cognitive dysfunction in anxiety disorders, depression and eating disorders.

Dr Edington moved to Cambridge, U.K. in 1995 and gained 12 years clinical experience at the University of Cambridge Counselling Service and the Cambridgeshire Eating Disorder Service. She has extensive clinical experience of working with anorexia nervosa, bulimia nervosa, binge eating disorder and atypical eating disorders, including severe, long-standing and complex eating disorders. She has also worked as Consultant Psychologist and Clinical Lead for the Suffolk Improving Access to Psychological Therapies Service, taking a lead role in setting up, delivering and developing a service providing low  and high intensity CBT interventions for anxiety disorders and depression.

Dr Edington’s areas of clinical expertise and interest are eating disorders and anxiety disorders. She is an experienced practitioner, clinical supervisor and trainer, with expertise in CBT, motivational enhancement therapy and Cognitive Analytic Therapy. Dr Edington is an accredited CBT practitioner and supervisor with the British Association of Behavioural and Cognitive Psychotherapies (BABCP) , is a graduate member of the British Psychological Society and is registered with the Health Professions Council in the U.K. . She is currently undertaking the registration process with the College of Psychologists of British Columbia.
